Jim Nga and Beth Harmon Team Up for a Concert of Schubert and Gershwin Favorites

All proceeds benefit the Congregational Church in Cumberland, which in turn supports community and outreach programs including Scouts, school programs, fuel assistance, food pantry, Habitat for Humanity, Cumberland Woodbank, and many others.
Pianist Dr. James Wesley Nga is completing his first year as Music Director for the Congregational Church in Cumberland. Originally from Malaysia, he has performed publicly since he was six, and has performed throughout the United States, in Europe, and in Asia. He has received music degrees in London and California as well as his Doctorate in Piano Performance at Texas Tech University. He was an active pianist, instructor, and church musician in California prior to moving to Maine, He is also on the piano faculty at the Bay Chamber Concerts and Community Music School in Rockport. He enjoys working with students of all ages and levels.
Mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Harmon recently retired after 36 years as Chancel Choir Director at the Congregational Church in Cumberland. A Maine native, she remains active in the choir at CCCUCC while she is part-time soloist at the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Brunswick. She has sung publicly since she was five. A graduate of Westminster Choir College, she is a longtime performing member of Portland Rossini Club and Choral Art Society. She has presented recitals at Peaks Island, Ocean Park, and at her church. She was a vocal instructor at Waynflete School for twenty years and continues to teach a few private vocal students.
