Student Pastor & Youth Coordinator
As Student Pastor at the Congregational Church in Cumberland I have the opportunity to gain experience serving a thriving congregation while continuing my seminary studies. I work with the Worship Ministry in leading worship and preaching; the Education Ministry to provide the best programs possible to our young people; and consult with the Church School Director as an ongoing practice to provide support in any way I can. I am also gaining in the experience of helping plan memorial services and baptisms as well as visit with some of the members and friends of the church community.
As Youth Programs Coordinator here at the Cumberland Congregational Church, I have the honor & privilege of working with the young people of the church and their families. We have a Youth Ministry Advisory Committee that supports this work in providing guidance and voluntary help for each event- it is a wonderful group to work with. Some of the activities that our young people take part in are:
- working at Wayside Soup Kitchen in Portland
- putting on a Haunted House for the community
- preparing Thanksgiving Baskets for needy families
- sponsoring Angel and Star gifts during the Christmas season
- Maine State Youth Council
- UCC National Youth Event
- Night Watch Program in NYC
- Mission Outreach Society in Boston
- Collaboration with other local Youth Groups
One of the most fulfilling parts of my position is helping to facilitate the young people in conducting a Youth Sunday worship experience.
These young people write all of the parts of the service and lead worship- it is an amazing event to be a part of and to behold!
