Welcome to the Congregational Church in Cumberland - United Church of Christ! I am glad you found your way to our website as it will give you a picture of the ways in which we express our faith through worship, service, fun and meaningful interaction. Cumberland is a semi-rural suburb of Portland, Maine. We are blessed with a congregation of life-long Cumberland folk and newcomers to the area; of energetic children, wonderful wise elders – and lots of people in between. Most would say our worship is traditional, but the truth is, you never know what might be happening here on a Sunday morning at 9:30! Our choirs – Chancel, Bell, and Youth - provide a wide range of inspirational and energetic music for worship.
This congregation is known for its emphasis on mission, from the food pantry which we house and regular service at the Portland Soup Kitchen, to foreign and domestic mission trips, which always include some of our teenagers. In recent years, our Green Team has kept us on our toes in terms of care for the environment. We have been an Open and Affirming Congregation since 2001.
Ours is a warm welcoming church family. We support one another through the transitions of life, as we seek to walk in the way of faith – and we do it with joy in the Spirit.
Thank you for visiting our church web site. Please stop by for a visit if you are ever in the area. We’re always happy to share the love of God with those who come our way.
